live body on dereg chassis

put my live body on a dereg chassis.. can i get a wof or is my truck classed as dereg or can they somehow allocate the dereg chassis to my live plates?

Ring LTSA/NZTA as its their regulations, VTNZ is jut a private company who interpret the rules their way

I rang up when I did mine, technically needs a cert. So you will need to prove ownership transferral of the de reg chassis etc to get cert.

I never ran into any problems though, No one gets under the truck to check chassis numbers, they usually just use the ID plate on the firewall

I cant find the form online, I went into a compliance center and talked to them, its a ruling designed for classics mainly with a chassis that is beyond repair and needs replacement.
Luckily I had a friend that worked at a compliance center and she just logged into my vehicles details and changed the chassis number for me.
But the paperwork is simple enough.

there are the above loopholes for classic cars but short answer is no, technically its illegal but most wof inspectors dont check both the vin and chassis no, so untill you get pinged don't worry
