Where the new holes need to be over lap the exisitng holes/crush tubes in the chassi to the point that it is simply easier to take five minutes with a die grinder to slot the holes on the steering box..the steering box is from a pre 97 R20 with the large spline but small taper to match the D21 drag link.

So Got the twin alternator set up in today...being tuesday.

Employed the Air con pump bracket, and the idler pulley from another engine, along with a brand new old GM/Bosch alternator that I had brought for my long gone HDT brocky.

So now the winch has it's complete own power circut seperate from the trucks.

No more unbalanced batteries and complicated wiring and switch overs Image

There is probably room still to put the ac pump back in, but it'd would make the alternators impossible to get to if need be.

Nice work. Don't obstruct access to that lower alternator. You will need to get it out to clean haha

Question i got asked today..

revolving around r200 lsd coversion to the longer D22 front axles.

you have to disassemble the inner tripod joint and swap the 5 bolt flange cv onto your ale and cv

remove the inner tripod joint rubber boot on the d22 and then tap the cup down onto the axle, a seal will pop off exposing the tripod,
clean the grease off remove the circlip, then tap the tripod off the axle shaft.

Image

part numbers 2.3.5.6.7 and 15 bottom left of image 5 bolt inner

wth the 5 bolt cv, remove the rubber boot /slide it down the axle, clean away the grease and you should see a large inner circlip that holds the race inside the cup, slide it out and remove the smaller circlip from the other side/end of the axle... tap bearing race off the axle and reassemble them onto the d22 axle.

IF the race wont budge from the cup of the 5 bolt cv cup, remove the cover over the end and do it the same way the tripod joint is done.

Sweet but your still running the R180 front diff right? Otherwise it's impossible b/c the R200s only had double offset inner cvs. So the tripod you blew earlier could have only been from a 4 cyl R180
TOYOTA - The Official Vehicle of ISIS!
And makers of the '92 Camry, where you got your first backseat handjob.

Not my d22 lax,

But if you are talkng about mine, it is a nismo 2 way unit i used have in gtr. R 200 wd21 housing with short side inner axle and cup still skyline/300zx but td27 tripod knuckle, the long side is r200 axle tube, shortened 180 axle and td27 inner tripod etc per norm.

Hence it only ever blows the long side cup apart, my have to see about mating the skylin inner to it instead of terrani one.

Great write up Crash!

Bit late for the party as usual but appreciate the detail of mods etc immensely!
That front bar is awesome! Thanks for sharing :)

Just picked up a 1997 Type X Mistral, and goes like the clappers compared to the older TD27T Terrano
Thinking its time to start making it off-road-able :)
