Shit that might be an interesting ride going around corners with all that soft flexy suspension travel cool project mate
Re: Lobstrosity
Rolling on all 4 steering and engine running mint. Clutch hooked up and breaks plumbed up to front. Drive shafts hooked up but thought i could get away with rear axle drive shaft misalignment but its just to much. Will drive with no springs in the back but fouls on droop.

Re: Lobstrosity
Is that a cut and weld on that steering shaft? Because if you want to cert it that's a big no no..that's what my cert man told me.
But otherwise looking forward to seeing it done!

Re: Lobstrosity
A quick 11 hour drive to New Plymouth - picked up a 4.2 silvertop with auto box. With 172k on the clock.
Started it up on the workshop floor... started after 2 cranks and no smoke - so stoked
So drive shaft angles are no longer an issue but its ####### long as hell so the hole truck is getting extended by 350mm!!!!!!

Got down to chopping it in half. Started a new job in the lift industry so have a few big steel rails that lifts run on and thought they would be perfect to use as a jig to line everything back together and stop it twisting as i weld it up.
Re: Lobstrosity
Extended and fully welded ready for a 5mm plate to stiffen the joins up. Also going to gusset the inside just to make certain its good and strong.
Using standard swb rear drive shaft.

Re: Lobstrosity
All the engine mounts where worn out and one missing. Thought i would make some super strong ones.
Found leaf spring bushes from Repco, 34 OD 18 ID for 5 bux each.
Used thick wall 1.5 inch tube and a M18 bolt with Nylocs
will do the same for the gearbox mount.

Re: Lobstrosity
Use a m12 bolt and fit a 3mm wall crush tube otherwise you will destroy the rubber ends.
I used similar idea but used a l.c. radius arm bush.
Great feeling knowing that if the rubber lets go it still cannot part company from off the chassis mount.

Rear gear box mount. Made a crazy wrap around mount to get it nice and high out the way of drive shaft.
