100% agree on narrower rims. 15x8 is too wide, especially for a 30x9.5.... I just bought some 15x5.5s of zukmeista with the centers flipped for $400 shipped to my door. For the $400 odd you're looking at for those steelies from 4WDBits, you could buy some stock 15x5.5s and have the centers flipped for not an awful lot more.... Zook Traders on TM also used to sell 15x7 steelies with 0p offset.... dunno if they still do. There's tonnes of options out there, just do your research and be patient haha

If you need more offset you can chuck in some 25mm wheel spacers and if you think that'll be too much, those spacers paired with the 13p wheels will give you something in the middle

Speaking of wheel bearings. Where do you get replacement kits from? Can't find a whole kit not even on EBAY.

Thanks for that. Do you have to replace the rear bearings? Dumb question but not sure

I've only changed rears when changed axles. Otherwise normally fine. Only do it if they are obviously worn would be my call. With the fronts I'd just be adjusting the wheel bearings. Only done full rekits a couple times due to wiper seal failure/swivel scoring and kingpin bearing failure.

A bit of an off topic question here.
I've been watching a lot of American 4wding videos and I have been left wondering why in New Zealand do we have to have the tyres in side the guards?
Because I think it looks pretty badass with a bit of tyre outside the vehicle.

Tyres must be inside the guards or fender flares by law. I think it's there to stop things flying into the vehicle behind you.

Can anyone tell me what ratios the SJ413 diffs from factory?

Diff ratios are 3.9:1 from factory,
Samurai's are 3.7:1 I believe.

What is the difference between the SJ413 and the Samurai?
Other than the name and diff gears?
I have always thought they were the same, but the Samurai was for the American market.

Samurai has wider diffs and springs mounted slightly outboard of the 413 and hand brake on the diff not on the drive shaft. Diff ratios like you have already stated. They might use the same front brake lines as I have had to extend samurai ones where 413's I didn't.
Recently I have noticed early gearboxes run slightly more oil with a small level hole being lower than the fill on samurais and there is a breather on top of one which the other doesn't have....can't remember now which is which.
On the motor, other than the size variation and crank pulley bolt number which seem random in which configuration you got there are some differences in the main water gallery tubes and where lines run.
Have also seen a couple different wattage alternators but these could have been retrofitted.
The 413's I have had had a solid steering shaft and the samurais collapsible.
There's other little oddities but a lot is cosmetic/bodywork stuff.

SJ413's also have a slightly taller 5th gear to account for the lower diffs I believe

I am dreaming here, but does anyone know of anyone in New Zealand that has put Jeep YJ leafs into there Sj?
I know its been done a bit in the states but I havent heard of it out here.

Main problem would be getting the springs that model of jeep is very uncommon here
