Hi all,
Hope you all doing great!
I am planning to buy a Terrano and I am stuck between all 3 models
1 owner 1991 Terrano TD27-T with manual tranny done 190k - In good condition, no rust underbody or owner said no rust behind the back seats?? $3500 is the deal with new WOF - Original truck
1996 Terrano QD32 engine, Auto has done about 210k, decent condition inside out and no underbody rust. asking 6K
2002 Terrano ZD30 engine , 2nd owner in NZ, very good condition, asking $5200 and when it engages 4th gear makes a bit of a shudder and i drove the car for about 50k and drives fine but shudder is same when getting on and off from 4th gear.
Unsure which car to buy??????
regards,
JC

Re: which Terrano to buy
Sorry don't know much about terranos (not my cup of tea), but the shuddering you described is the torque converter lockup. There is a product called lubeguard shudder fix which instantly solves the problem (around $20 or $30 from memory). I was recommended it as one of my old safaris had that issue. Did not think it would actually do anything but it did exactly as described

Thank you for the details, i did mention that to my mate, he is going to try that over the weekend.
I have ended up buying a different Terrano, which is out of this list.
Checked the 1991 old girl but it is a bit of a rust bucket so my mechanic told me to say away.
I got a low Km (genuine) 175k 1996 R50 with TD27, I think it should be a good one. I'll be picking the truck soon after Akl travel restrictions lifted up.

JC

ZD is a nono.
QD not bad. More of a car engine than proper 4x one.
Pretty hard to go past the old TDs.
