Wellington wheeling next weekend? (feb 2-3)

Postby Ern » Fri Jan 25, 2013 3:35 pm

Hey guys, I'm here in NZ travelling from Canada taking the Kiwi Experience bus tour around the country. Here's my intro post with some pics of my hilux back home: http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/ ... 38&t=33966

I'm leaving Auckland tomorrow (saturday) and should be in Wellington for next weekend (feb 2-3). I'll get there Friday Feb 1st sometime in the afternoon I think.

Are there any wheeling or camping trips planned for the weekend?

I'd love to get off the beaten track and experience some of the real NZ instead of just all the touristy stuff... I'm always down for an adventure to meet some new mates and have a few drinks 8)

I've got a mat & sleeping bag if anyone has an extra spot on a camping/wheeling trip. Or an open seat on a day trip out hitting the local tracks would be cool. Let me know what's going on and let's have some fun!

I'm not expecting a free ride and will gladly chip in for fuel and whatnot :)

My trip is open dated so I can stick around a few days or more depending on what's going on. I'll be continuing on to the south island for some more fun after this.

Cheers!
Aaron

Sounds like some fun trips

Anyone have an open seat and spot for me to sleep on the palmy trip?

I'd be keen to head out tuesday for the rallywoods trip too if anyone has a spot open for me? :)

I'll be staying at Base backpackers friday night when I get into town

Cheers eh

I live right in town and I'll be heading out to rallys tues night so I can give you a lift. There is a hut there so you can crash in that. Just bring some booze, something to munch on (moore wilsons supermarket right next to you or new world between you and the marina (where I live) and then we'll head on up. (only in a car as my surf is off the road :( at the moment)

Mike: sounds good. Thanks! Can I leave my big backpack at your place so I only need to bring a small bag since its just one night?

Will do Martin. What days/times?

Anyone got a seat for palmy north? Trying to figure out if I need to book a place to stay in wellington sat night since its so busy with the rugby sevens this weekend. Every place is booked up but on the kiwi experience we've got the chance to grab a few nights at Base hostel.. I'd rather get out wheeling & camping with some good mates though 8)

Can offer you a seat to palmy and during the trips (there should be others up there as well if you wanted) and back and throw in a tent as well

Thanks Jerry! I don't get into wellington until 7pm friday evening. Not sure if that would be too late if you end up heading there friday though? I'd be keen to head up for a later evening/night run though if you wanted - or saturday morning. Whatever works for you :)

yeah no worries with the pack.

easiest way to find wellington tow bars, walk down the main shopping street away (courtney place) away from your backpackers till you get to reading cinemeas on the right. Go in there walk through to the back door and out on to the road, they should be straight across the road with the panda(nissan on steroids) in the window.
