Great news.
Observation;
Wouldn't it be better to have prize giving Saturday night, especially if there are no night stages on the Saturday night? A lot of people head home on Saturday night and don't come back for Sundays prizegiving.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 18-20 Oct 2013
Hi all,
Hamish and I had a meeting on Saturday and I can now report as follows:
Our event will be held on Friday night 18 October and Saturday 19 October 2013.
HQ at Onewhero Rugby Club.
There will be four classes of competition being Manukau, Club, Challenge and Modified.
The event will be run under 4X4 Challenges 2012 Rules. Depending on the level of South Island competitor interest we may look at some rule dispensation on a case by case basis.
All stages will close at or before 5.00pm Saturday to allow for dinner and prize giving from 7.00pm Saturday.
There are a couple of sticky bits for the club committee to resolve which will delay the entry forms for a week or so.
Watch this space.
Hamish and Dave.

Hi all,
The sticky bits are all sorted out.
We will incorporate the NZ1 competition into our event.
We will introduce a supplementary rule which will allow Challenge Class to run with unrestricted radiators.
Detailed information may be downloaded from the Manukau site from tomorrow. A link will be posted to them here. http://www.manukau4wd.org.nz/trip-info. ... rip_id=210

Hi Tuff Lux
The guts of it is Manukau Class is an introductory class which is designed to give aspiring competitors a taste. You need to have a road legal vehicle with a winch bolted onto the front. The vehicle must not have been in a winch competition event above Manukau Class previously. That simple.
Obviously the competition tracks for that class are less onerous.

Hi guys,
We've been quiet here for a while but things have definitely been happening in the background.
For the Saturday competition 8 new previously unused stages have been spotted. We are going to find another two next week. We're still arguing about how to incorporate the iconic 'under bridge' stage but I'm sure we can somehow.
As far as the Friday night stages are concerned, they're being treaded this weekend and we should have four.
In all cases competitors have requested more long and fast stages with shorter snot holes. But don't forget it is a winch challenge. We'll do the best we can.
Get those entries in.

22 paid up and confirmed, 26 if you count intentions to enter I believe.
Not sure if they are putting a cap on it, you'll have to wait for Dave to answer that one.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 18-20 Oct 2013
hi any spectators allowed
Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 18-20 Oct 2013
Like we have said in the past, the rules change dramatically once we “advertise” spectators as far as the fun police are concerned, so we are not advertising.
This is a working farm, so all the usual rules apply. Do not bring a gun, do not bring a dog.
If you bring alcohol, leave it in the car.
By all means, bring mum, kids, lunch and park where shown after following the signs from the far side of the Tuakau Bridge.

Hi all,
Sorry I've been ignoring you.
There are a few places left in all classes. Go to the Trips page at www.manukau4wd.org.nz for details and forms.
There are six night stages set up for the Friday night, three of which are for Manukau Class and three for the rest.
Saturday stages are progressing well with nine currently mapped out. All are longer and some combine previously used stages.

Any South Is trucks coming up,
Sorry, I didn't answer this. Scrutineering starts on the Friday afternoon at 3.00pm. We would like to complete it by 6.00pm if possible.
Someone else answered the SI competitor question and I can confirm we have 3 definites and one other possible.

Yes! I'm leaving information packs as late as I can to ensure the information in them is as accurate as possible.
Competitor packs will be sent to all drivers & co-drivers for whom Hamish has email addresses. Those packs will also be sent to media.
Marshal packs will be sent to all officials.
This is confirmed: Scrutineering Friday 3-6pm at Rugby Club. Competitor briefing Friday night 7:30pm at Oram Rd site. Etc, etc.

Re: Manukau Winch Challenge 18-20 Oct 2013
I heard this evening that the South Island contingent has increased to five!
I THINK THAT BRINGS ENTRIES TO 31!
Final stage setting for Oram Rd was last Sunday and all looks good. Final stage setting for Onewhero is this Sunday.

Yep, Mike confirmed that this evening.
Hope to have competitor and marshal packs emailed Tuesday night.
Pegged out Onewhero today. Awesome! Used a couple of signature tracks (like under the bridge), pegged several completely new stages way up to the north-east and over to the west.

It needs to be proven first!! The Isuzu has been a bit stripped of capable bits though. We'll see. You got a suggestion? No, that's not an invitation for the rest of you!
