RHB5 turbo wanted

Postby moo » Sat Jan 09, 2010 9:15 pm

My $800 turbo lasted under 10,000kms (2 yrs mostly offroad toy) and is totalled cant rebuild it so wanting one i can rebuild! The RHB5 off early 2.8 isuzus can be rebuilt Im told so ideally after one of these but if not something else thats cheap would be great.

thats interesting wonder if they are a bit more robust. I have a funny feeling that even with my oil level slightly over full it maybe isnt getting enough oil when climbing steep stuff. does anyone know where the oil pickup is or think this is maybe an issue?

both subaru's and isuzu's run an IHI turbo, hence they are similar to the subaru unit.
I see in the BNT trade supporter panflet that they are selling new IHI turbos. worth giving them a shot as they seem to be reasonably priced on most of thier other products

I dont know what model suby its off but its a VF10 turbo. A mate has one on his 2.8 and it boosts higher but takes more revs to get it up to full boost compared to the standard turbo, so id say part of it is bigger. It's a straight bolt up afaik. Also the intake is at a funny angle so needs modifying or some really flexy pipe to get it over to the airbox.
