Isuzu Mu boost setting

Postby Diorama » Wed Nov 12, 2014 11:37 am

My son has just bought a1996 Isuzu Mu 3.1 manual. He is going to put in an EGT gauge and increase the turbo boost. Does anyone know what the factory boost setting was on those vehicles and what would be the maximum you could wind up the turbo boost before risking any damage. Not interested in hammering the truck but would like to increase the fuel a bit for towing.

ermm. just adjusted up the fuel to the point that it didn't blow too much smoke off boost. removed egr and fitted a catch can for the blowby.

went like stink

My 2.8 mu runs 14psi happily with fuel increased. Will do the same to my 3.1 mu once its running, egt gauge is more critical on the 3.1 definitely though imo :)

They will run up to around 14-15PSI with no mods is safe. You can start to run higher boost up to around 18 psi with a larger exhaust and intercooler. Anything past that is just hot air.
