Jeep wheels interchangeable?

Postby pchatz » Tue Jun 25, 2013 3:20 pm

I have a Jeep grand cherokee 2000 model, and am wondering if the older model wheel rims will fit mine? does anyone know if wrangler wheels fit on grand cherokees as well?
Am liking the petrol v8 - am getting about 400 + kms per tank @ $157 per fill, and my nissan safari 4.2 diesel was abt $127 per 400 kms plus I had to buy k's as well on top,for $50 per 1000k's, so Jeep not as bad as I first thought it would be.I got over 500kms per tank on a trip recently. So far, so good. Would be great to know if wheels can be swapped over, as cant get up my driveway with road tyres on lol

WG/WJ Grand Cherokees are 5 on. 5in bolt pattern, YJ and TJ Wranglers are 5 on 4.5in bolt pattern. Rims won't be interchangeable.

However, if you can find rims off a JK Wrangler, that would be the same 5 on 5in stud pattern as your Grand Cherokee.

JK Wranglers are from 2007 onwards, i.e the newest shape.

What engine do you have in your Grand. I get 650+ kms on a full tank on a long motorway speed trip in our 4.7l petrol.

Cheers for that info - am lookin at some older rims and tyres for sale down the line,so cant try them for fit.will need to do some more homework.
Have a 4.7 v8 , but am sure it hasnt had a set of plugs in a long time, and air filter will be replaced as well. I am happy with 500 km per tank, but 400 km around town has room for improvement for sure.
Am intending to put some new plugs ,oil, filters soon,so will see how it drinks after that and let you know.

Trips from Auckland to various North Island holiday spots. Not much downhill or tailwind. Trick is not to hear the exhaust rumble, if I listen to it thats when I put my foot down and fuel gauge rapidly falls....

Stick to 100kmph speed limit, economy dramatically increases.
