Late model Grand Cherokee diesel

Postby GreyGhost » Fri Jan 13, 2017 6:36 pm

We are looking at downsizing our home, and getting a caravan (about the 7m+ length).
Looked at a few options as the tow vehicle.
We do go out with a group of 4x4 travellers for a few trips each year too. Not hard core scrambling over large rocks, etc.
No snorkels needed (usually) either.
Thought about a newish Jeep Grand Cherokee to replace my old RX Prado (which is still in great nick, but no sense in flogging the ring off it).

3 litre V6 diesel, auto.
Any good, bad, really bad, extremely really bad points about them?
We are wanting comfort on the open road too, which the Prado gives us, and reasonable off road performance (think in terms of trips into Macetown for example as that's about as rough as we go).
Thanks guys.

No substitute for cubic inches. Bigger the block. Less effort required.less fuel used.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

I'd be looking closely at the reliability of anything that comes from FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles). They usually sit at the bottom of reliability charts but if your happy with that I suspect that it would probably preform well and be well priced.

Would you consider a TDV8 Range Rover sport, they weigh 2.8 ton, have all the towing power you will ever need.
They are surprisingly economical and second hand they are way cheaper than a cruiser .

Hi there, I had one last year, overland and I was more than happy with it. So happy, that we will go back to it as soon as we have sold our Rubicon.

The grand cherokee offers good driving abilities, comfort for everyone (all the family), the diesel has a lot of torque and is economical.
They will launch the Trail Hawk that is equipped with a few goodies.
