My zuk was a shade over 2300 and felt a bit short. With the rebuild that will start early next year I'll be out around 2600. Its all a juggle, short for the tight slow stuff, longer for fast or steep

Hmm, extendable wheel base, you know hydraulic control arms or something to stretch it as required.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Apparently 106" or 108" is the ideal.. 2743mm(108) give or take a bit..

117"!!!, only one badass orange Lux drove that hill on stage 8! (or was it 7?, You get my point)

Lol, according to who? The god of NZ winch challenge? Not really taking the piss as I tend to agree, just not sure how one arrives at a specific figure.

For me, I was planning on 110", but looks like I will stick with the 117" factory length as changing is too hard basket. I felt my last truck could have been a touch longer, it was 106". Though it does need to be balanced with your track width as well.

FYI a few factory lengths.
LWB Nissan 117"
SWB Nissan 98"
Double cab Solid axle Lux 112"
Surf (130 series)104"
80 series 112"
Jeep TJ 94"
Jeep XJ 102"

Sorry for the old money measurements, just how I have remembered them.

100" works well for UK events,, as most sites are covered in tight trees !!

my toyota is 101 and thought it was short, but it turns better than my suzuki, climbs ok, but there are more corners than hills at most winch comps.

when i mod the suzuki it will be around the 102 mark.
you have to take into account the axle width also.

you will never get the perfect truck, just one that suits your driving style.

100" seems to work long enough for down hill but short enough for the tight stuff.

Yea but in the whole series this year thats the only time my wheelbase has given me advantage over all others, in all other events its been a hinderence taking time to get around pegs/trees.

I got about 104-105 at the moment, which seems ok for most things, but for next truck I will be going to 117 as well, the extra bit does seem to make them climb that much better, and a nissan @ 117 with its better steering lock, doesnt seem to lose much, if anything to a toyota at the 105 mark
