diesel in the seat :(

Had some oil/diesel spill in the back of the surf and unfortunately the back seats were down and it went through all the seat cusions. Anyone know the best stuff to get this out? I've already tried sunlight, dynamo and napisand with two buckets of near boiling water. Still smells and feels diesely (such a word? )

To break down oil you will need something like a degreaser product.
That should remove the spill off the vinal covers. Unsure about the sponge under tho.
Just be awear that the degreaser may affect the sponge or even possible melt the sponge in worst case event

Hi Mike, I bought an old shitter once (what do you mean once I've had heaps of them) that had filthy upholstery , I stripped the seats out (cloth seats) sprayed them with degreaser detergent let it sit for half an hour then hit them with a real hot steam cleaner, it took ages for them to dry but they came out like new. Now Diesel could be different , there must be heaps of your model Surfs being dismantled surely a member on here has a back seat for you, after all we are all in deterred to you and owe you big time for what you have done with ORE. i agree with the "replace from a wrecker" solution. Diesel is a right pain when deep in fabric.

I have had luck with simple green in the past with removing dirt and grease stains from fabric seats. I used it in its concentrate state, straight out of the bottle. Don't know about diesel though. It is cheap enough to try it though. Mitre 10 mega sells big bottles of it for bugger all.

Had a diesel spill in the back of my 80 once. Couldnt get rid of it so had to replace the whole carpet

the degreser in the 2l bottles at super cheap should get it out as it is a concentrate took the grease stains out of my carpet just mix it with hot water

Cheers guys, will try out a few of those options. Tried skids option first up, managed to move the mess outside the surf . Threw the carpet away already 2's, it was a hell of a mess! Might be taking up your offer Smurf if this other stuff doesnt work

It's at least forced me to strip out the interior and now I can start planning for the draws and bed

it's just the seat backs, bottoms were fine. I'll know in the next few days as I'll give them another crack tomorrow.

unfortunatly i would have to agree with beercruiser, especially if its got into the sponge,youll never get rid of the smell,every time you hop in on a hot day it will stink, had the same f..k up with gearbox oil and ended up replacing the seat as the smell would just about make you feel sick.
