loud crack from front hub area

so as above in this case on a 93 Safari... why and what is the loud crack I keep heairing from the front hub area when... decending under heavy engine braking ???
it sounds like omething breaking but all works ok, its been doing it a lot and as I said ONLY under heavy decents...

Do you have the auto hubs? it could be one of those playing up....

hubs have a large nut with AUTO and LOCK on them... they are and allways have been in auto...???

Next time you are off road, put them in lock and see what happens...
Dont forget to put them back to Auto when you hit the pavement.

Yup sounds like sticking hub. In the olden times you would have to reverse off them. 93 shouldn't be an issue though. Tearing them down isn't hard and if they haven't been done since 93, probably overdue.

yeah id emagine they havent been ever considered... so whats involve a strip n clean or replace parts?

Screwdrivers, hex wrenches, circlip pliers.
Kero/petrol wash and grease to re-lube.
