The turbo takes quite a bit of noise out of it. Maybe build the system with no mufflers, take for a drive and see how it goes. If its way loud, get a muffler. If its not too bad, get a coby style resonator. Won't take much to add in muffler afterwards if you route the pipe with the idea of putting one in later.
My 10cents anyways.

on my turbo safari i ran a 3in pipe right through with no mufflers of any type and it was fine. Did have a bit of a drone but didn't bother us.

what hilux motor?
the L series tend to be loud as without any mufflers. a whole different ball game to the big 6 cyl's.

single 'coby' works ok tho i keep getting told it sounds like a tractor! otherwise fit two.
the other way is to fit a small coby up front and a big empty resonator at the rear (size of a main muffler but nothing in it). you can play around with a few different combo's.

NO muffler. All good if you dont like it then put one in later. My muffler filled with diesel soot straight away so better off taking it out

Those are a bit pricey. They look like the flow sound ones from Chase exhausts only painted black not silver. I've used one on each of my last two petrol cruisers. Pretty sure I only paid $80 or $90 each.

I put on a 3 inch straight pipe system on my hilux, 1 Kz engine,it was quiet enough to pass a vtnz Wof so I'd tend to ignore that rule as they don't care wether or not it's got a muffler long as it's quiet.
