2 stroke oil in diesel

Postby altair » Sat Feb 06, 2016 4:17 pm

Hi all, I'm new to owning diesel, but have read about putting 2 stroke oil into your diesel.
To do with lubricating injector pumps etc better, as the modern diesel has no sulphur.
To me it is a lubricant, so can't be too bad, depending on amount used?
Any experiences with this, good or bad? In my eyes a litre of standard 2 stroke every couple of months is much cheaper than an injector pump overhaul....
Or am I simply naive??...lol
I just have an old TD27, but with lowish ks, so happy to add the 2 stroke if it helps protect the old girl.
What do you guys think? Truth, or BS?

If you want a massive amount of info and opinions, see this. Pretty much covers exactly what you're wanting to know.

I've tried it for a few tanks, didn't notice anything at all to be honest. That's running in my Bitsalux which has a 2.8TD Daihatsu engine.

A few on here were running it. It made a big difference in my patrol. A lot less rattle.

Heres a thread where it was discussed a bit.

There's also a 100+ page thread on the Patrol4x4 site.
Pretty sure you have to use 2 stroke 2T only......anyhow i've been using it on and off for 3-4 yrs with no issues. You don't really notice much difference except maybe less rattle or noise as said but the big thing is that it adds lube for the pump.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go, have about 6 litres of two stroke here I can't use in the saws, so I'll try it.

Goes not bad in my idi diesel, seat of the pants testing tells me the engine is quieter and has slightly more pickup.
