Temp Gauge not working

Just wondering if there is any easy way to tell if it is the dash gauge is not working or the sender unit not working anyone know what to do with out spending too much money on it would be great

if you earth the sender wire the gauge needle should read max temp

If you have an ohm meter. Measure the resistance across the sender. It should change as the temp changes.
It will tell you the sender is working, but not exactly if its still accurate.
You would need the workshop manual to determine resistance at different temps.

Might just be a loose connection. Check that out too.

Cheers Sadam, i earthed the sender wire and the gauge went up
so i take it the sender is stuffed?

correct, one faulty sender.
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....
