spark died on electronic ignition

Postby lincooln » Mon Feb 25, 2013 7:03 pm

The spark died on the Fiva (Fiat 132 powered Lada Niva) last night while Louis was driving. Checked for spark last night and nothing, Fuel yes. So why would it die? It's electronic ignition using a coil pack I assume as no coil. Will post a pic soon of the setup so you can tell. I am kinda stumped, checked all the leads, wires to dizzy, rotor, so any help would be awesome,

Oh yeah.....classics. To test coil, unplug and disconnect the negative to the coil and the positive going into the ballast resistor. Hook decent bit of wire to these and hold positive on battery (not with finger as it will bite) and brush the negative against neg terminal with main HT lead near an earth. Look for spark.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

new coil and she is all good, but battery is low now as so many attempts to start it does somewhat make a battery die. But I have had it running and it seems to be all good.
