Hey guys, I have just finished putting vn v6 into my hilux, it seems to be running really rich, it use quarter of a tank on 20km drive and seemed underpowered and backfired alot. Does anyone know how i can check fault codes, i dont have engine lights hooked up, tried 12v lamp in aldl plug on engine lamp out put and bridging plug, but no go. I have gone over motor and everything is plugged in and no vacum leaks etc. Also has new map sensor. Could it be temp sensor? Need to get to the bottom of this. Thanks alot

Got an o2 sensor on the exhaust? They come out with the wires for one and a bung hole in the manifold (steel manifold) but no sensor. Go figure lol

I have been told the nz vn never came with o2 sensors? Should i install one or is there a way i can trick ecu? Nah no fuel leaks, first thing i did. How do i test the injectors?

Cheers guys, will get one installed and see how i go, i never had that part of exhaust on my headers when i got motor. So i take it o2 sensor does major part and makes big difference to running and fuel?

Yip my laymans understanding is that it measures how rich its running and adjusts things accordingly. Made a huge difference in the navara. Couldnt pass emissions for cert without it

Hi,
My VN 3.8 car 1989 did not have an O2 sensor, it was the series I VN, think the Series II had an O2 sensor.

Cheers
Tim

Yeah mine isnt going as hard as i would have expected, quite sluggish, only a little bit more power than the turbo 2.8, which makes me think if the ecu is in limp mode? But i have no way of checking
