16" M/T's

Post by PedRac3r »

Hey guys, been running a set of 265/75/16 (31.5x10.5) Achilles XMT's on my 185 Surf, they have been a good tyre on and off road so far, but looking to go 33's so I dont need to be so hard on it going through trails. Hoping to take a more refined approached as opposed to just using "momentum".

I was looking at 285/75's, but seeing as I was going to have to body lift to clear bigger tyres anyway I figured I could go all out and sell what I have and go 16x10's with a bigger tyre again, but after researching there seems there is very limited options. Seems like there is a handful of good tyre options available in 285/75 and then there is practically nothing until you get to 315/75 (35").

Anybody here been through the same scenario, or got any good suggestions? Was hoping to find a "tall" 33" tyre to make the whole process a little more worth while. Happy to hear some input from you guys.

33" and 16x10s your going to need quite a body lift for tyres to clear in the back of the front wheel arch.

I had 32" on factory rims (16x7 +15) on mine with 2" body lift, wasn't heaps of room. if you do a SAS like I've just done then you can fit 35" with plenty to spare. :)
1996 vzn185 surf, TRD supercharger, GQ SAS, 37s, 3" lift, 2 lockers, double cabbed + more happening.
2004 Jeep WJ 4.7 HO, 2" lift, 31s

Yeah thats something I would need to check clearance wise. Ive pulled as much castor as I can into the lower arms to gain clearance there, the XMT's just clear at full compression whilst turning. Was hoping a 2" body lift would give me just enough to clear. SAS is too much for me, gonna try keep this one on the road otherwise it will just turn into another project haha.
