I dont know why I do this to myself, I've googled myself stupid.
My plan currently is to buy a set of 15x7 rims to fit 33x10.5s.
SOMEHOW I started thinking about 16" rims. These would fit 265/75 (equivalent to 33x10.5)
BUT the tyres themselves are heavier, I imagine the rims are too, and everything is more expensive, so what IS the point of going larger diameter rims?
Penny for your thoughts

Re: 15" vs 16"
15" will yield more options than 16" rims and save more $$$ than 16" rims.. so why bother.. if 15's work ?

Re: 15" vs 16"
16" rims are to fit over larger brake calapers.
No advantage over 15's apart from that.
15's will bag better with a taller wall as well.

Re: 15" vs 16"
265/75 are only a 32x10.5. You need to compare a 255/85 or a 285/75 to a 33x10.5 x15
As mudlva said, it's for brakes and also better road manners (less sidewall to squirm)

Decent off set fixes that problem. Ive got the centers moved and the back of the rim hardly holds any crap now.
It is a valid point tho as on std 15" rims and bigger calapers clay and stones can be a real p.i.t.a
Re: 15" vs 16"
Alot of modern design mud tyres are going 16 inch or bigger
Re: 15" vs 16"
17 is the new 16, and 16 is the new 15. Mostly new 4x4s are moving towards 16/17 inch rims so that bigger brakes can be fitted with more powerful engines.
