I've had optima batteries for ten years in my truck now, the same ones. Multiple times flat (both of them, usual story, lights on slow drain oops), used in anger for long winches, winch comps etc. Both going strong but obviously not as good as when I got them but still pretty bloody awesome. It would take a bit of persuasion for me to go to something else  Just thought I would put that out there if you thought the price of these things are expensive. Over ten years it works out bloody cheap!

what one would you recommend for a 2.7td terrano with the usual accessories, 9500 winch and spot lights?

Yellow top if using a winch, red is more just for starting with light electrical loads.
Bigger the better if it will fit. If doing alot of winching 2 is even better.
Only difference between the D34 and D34/78 is the D34/78 has a couple of extra terminals on the side for connecting to.
