Ocean Beach: where to stop

Hi,

I was at Ocean Beach but a bit confused on which roads to take (with respect to the law)... the track is going along the coast and after a panel with a notice "experienced drivers etc" I didn't drive too long as I couldn't guess what will come . On my way back, i saw the panel with the Wild Coast track and I realize that perhaps I couldn't drive that road...

Along the coast, I also saw nice places to explore.. but again not sure if you can put your wheels over there

And finally, I didn't take the Wharekauhau but perhaps it is a good one?

keep going along beach, you'll hit a really big steel gate where you turn around and come back

Joining a local Club might be beneficial as well.
