Haast area

Postby Big » Sun Feb 02, 2014 11:51 am

Hi guys, Im going to be running a trip over to Haast in late April and wondering if anyone knows of any accessible tracks other then the normal Coppermine or down to Barn bay etc.. I have emailed Doc to try to get any info from them but from experience.. Some people know who to ring to access areas etc..
I have run this trip a few times and can be quite entertaining.. to say least but feel it's getting old.. and would like to expand the trip tracks wider so to get into a bigger area.. which in turn makes it a better trip.

Thanks heaps
K

I'd tlak with the Otago Landrover owners club, I reckon they would have a bit of an idea. Otherwise maybe try and contact ken sibley (author of 4wd books in NZ). He would know for sure and is a wealth of knowledge.

Hey Keri, it's me, Ross! :D

I had heard of a track along Doughboy Creek, further to the north. I *think* it goes out to the coast. But this was a few years ago and the person I spoke to had done it some years before that. And that's if it is the same doughboy creek...

Have been up the Landsborough to the main river crossing. An easy drive and not too long either. Beyond the river, don't know if there is even a track.

Just on holiday for a few weeks. Will be in Queenstown by about the 20th or thereabouts for a week or so. With any luck there will be a club trip or two on to test the vehicle out a bit more. Even a trip to CO4WDC grounds. I see we miss a SLROC Mossburn trip.

That Ashley river trip - we had only been in the country about 8 hours...

Sorry to hijack your Haast thread. I told you I am coming back for that trip, didn't I?
