Was up there beginning on June (Queen's Birthday) pretty wet that weekend but tracks are great as always! Road in a little rough but you can still tow in just pays to take it real slow.

Which is the best way/area to use? aka for parking of tow utes and for the tracks themselves, so many different roads and tracks around the area.

I've got the parking/camp area marked on my map :) its kindof towards the top right. King country 4wd club have all the info and maps on their website

Yeah piece of cake to find really, all the info is on KC4wd site & you just follow pink arrows to the camp. Most the tracks break off from the camp too.

We went for a nosey anyway. Pretty wet in some places probably thanks to the previous weekends rain, I'm fairly sure we just found several ways to go round in the same circle so don't think we covered a huge amount of the tracks available, but a good day none-the-less. Big ups to KC4WD and DoC for making this place freely available, will definately be going back. I think you have the trick, make it so far off the main road that the general idiots cant be bothered or don't even know its up there, road in was fairly rough after the halfway mark but worth the drive

We just went down to the block for the long weekend, was the best weekend of 4wheelin I've had... The tracks were pretty good, more then enough tracks to keep most people happy.

Met a real nice couple from kc club, Andy and Louise ( grommet ) they made our weekend, and I'm sure they secretly used us to widen the tracks ( he was in a Pajero, we were in 3 80's and Lwb Safari haha ) haha

So yeh, will be defiantly going down again, and well worth the drive

yeh dude, we were down there for easter... had a great weekend, tracks were still pretty wet which was really good. met a few good dude from tauranga. but yeh, they told about the closure for april to give the hunters a good go.

But there is loads of parking, is pretty safe. never had anything go missing when were out 4wheelin.
