How much of this could be driven in a Escudo on 30's with twin lockers and HD front and rear bumpers? It's a daily so wouldn't be looking for any serious damage if any, plus would have to drive home in it. Last time I did Tailings it killed us, but what's the nick of the track like now? If I could get time off I'd be keen to come. Would definitely be keen on a few tracks heading over from Christchurch too :D

Anybody got any idea?
It'll help decide whether I put time/money into my Suzuki or my Landie, so it'd be much appreciated :)

We spent an hour in Dad's RRC stuck in a river on Tailings, but I think with twin lockers, a good line and a winch pulling me across, I might be good. Maybe

I imagine there will be a group of us doing less demanding/vehicle friendly tracks also, so it's not all go hard or go home.

There's so much to do and see. For example, if the hard crew are setting off to do Mt Fredruck or whatever, the more vehicle friendly option is to head out with them, then go up to the Mackley river and back or up to the repeater and meet them when they get back. That sorta thing.

I have seen a Vitara climb Mt Rochford, carefully.
And it drove Tailings, Vitara was modified( quite a bit) and on 31s.
If a reasonable number of people attend then there should be the option of multiple trips on some days so the Shinier/standardish trucks can head away on one trip when the bigger/Modded trucks do the hard tracks.
Don't let your vehicle put you off going, there will always be spare seats available if you want to leave yours behind for a day and tag along on a harder track/trip

Aforementioned Vitara

It's sounding good to me guys.... will hopefully come along. Just need to see if I can get time off and try find someone who'll come with me (all things going well I should have my restricted, but 4WDing is still far more fun with others :D )

I have a few things to do to the truck before then but I guess I'll just wait and see.... should be fun anyways

yes I'm keen to come along, there is a 4x4 competition in the area over Easter but there a heap of tracks over that way we can do on different days or times.
i might have to build a camp trailer as accommodation may be tricky if not in early.

For those that are planning on doing the chasm and havn't seen it. You need to be prepared for it, spares to keep your truck going including things that break on the harder trips ie hubs, CV's, driveshafts, spare battery (bit of winching) and other bits like spare door if needed.

Very true Bill. The first time I think I blew a hub and the second time a very small dent just above the door where I had a rest against a tree. I may or may not do Chasm this time in the Surf, depends how I feel at easter. Tailings is pretty good fun for me. Last time I went through by myself and it was just on the limit of the surf for mostly driving, and with a couple of inexperienced passengers things could have gone either way, but with patience and tackling each obstacle as it came we got through without damage and stress. Chasm could be a different story but with a few more trucks could be quite an adventure. Remember, I still run IFS

Hi team,

I am just looking at ferry bookings for this trip and it's looking like Blue Bridge are the cheapest - who from the North Island is going (confirmed that is as numbers may get a discount) and I also need to know how many people per vehicle.

Dates we are looking at are WGTN to PCT - 13/4/17 and returning 24/4/17.

Please let us know ASAP so we can get on to the bookings due to it being Easter the boat will full up fast!

Cheers,
Reece
