chch shiney mud play :D
I had a small play by the jet boat ramp on Sunday along with a few other older 4wd's. The old shiney surf handled the greasy conditions quite well and the tracks were not to bad, nothing like coutts island.
Who's up for a shiney play this sunday in the mud along the waimak on relativley easy muddy slimey tracks. Should be abit of fun and a good chance to get those soccer cars dirty

Oh is that what you mean by shiney,4x4s that never get dirty....well thats mine down to a tea.
Id be keen ,but im not sure if my surf would be very well suited to mud,as the tyres are almost below warrant standard & has a, no water crossing under any means type setup.if you know what i mean.well nothing over the bumper.
I only had mine about 8 mths & havent had a chance to get out in a easy trail to get used to it(or even see if my transfer case even works as it should), Ive not bothered to join a club or anything as im not yet commited to doing to many trail use modifications, like recovery points etc.
Im a more than usefull driver on the tarmac or even shingle stock routes, but as far as 4wheeling im still a rookie.

I won't be doing any water crossings either as my surf is stock standard as well. These tracks are just smallish muddy tracks with very little chance of getting stuck and with all the recent rain make it alot of fun! Just take your tow ball out and you'll be fine.
It is a perfect training/play ground
I would say 10:am meet in the jetboat launch ramp carpark just beneath the motorway bridge.

hmm have to be in CHC by 9am Tuesday.... hmmmmmmm
Just have to pray I can get this gearbox in asap
I hope the transport company gets the box to you in time
Hey I found that the easiest way to get that gearbox out was to pull the motor, 1hour 10 mins and the box was on the back of my datto
Cheers
Thomas
PS: Send me an email to let me know that it turned up safely.

why ?? when all you have to do is remove the torsion bars. mark the front end so it goes back in the same place undo the torsion bar mounts and loosen the adjusting bolt at the back. when you install them measure under the guard to the ground and wind the adjuster bolt to get the correct hight. the drivers is 5mm to 15mm higher depending on wieght.

I undid all bar two of the bolts on the torsion bars... two bolts have rusted on and I'll be damned if I can shift them, although I should have a gas torch by the end of the day, which should help
PS: and those damned adjuster bolts take a while to undo, specially cos theirs a lock nut too... (and of course their almost 8" long")
PPS: Oh and I'm still a novice when it comes to mechanics... electrics...easy ... mechanics

Who knew Prados could fly?
Who knew Prados could fly?
Okay well looks like I might not make Sunday am waiting on parts.... The Bellhousing is different on this other gearbox so am having to use the old one (Starter motor is on other side) problem being that the Counter-Shaft Front Bearing is 5mm bigger on the new gearbox so have had to order a smaller one to fit into the bell housing, I thought about machining it out, but its not worth the hassle. so now its going to be a hybrid, best bits from both boxes.... there goes the swap straight out option....ahh well....
