Im sure New Zealand Diesel has much more sulphur than the UK & European diesel so this means you shouldnt need to use 2 stroke oil

Yeah, wasn't too sure, as a few oz lads are starting to add oil too. Only did it to see what happened, as its expensive enough to fill with diesel without adding oil as well!

I thought NZ dropped all sulfur a while back. I remember tons of pumps failing because seals perished. Ill try the
2-
stroke idea. I seem to have too much of it around.

In the longer term, New Zealand plans to implement a "zero sulphur" diesel specification of 10 to 15 ppm, in line with international trends. The government will review the diesel sulphur issue by mid-2005, with the intent of setting a timetable for the "zero sulphur" specification of no later than 2009/2010.
Mmm might try the
2 stroke thing in the old 2H diesel in the Cruiser. Nothing to loose

BP in NZ currently sell 50 PPM & in Europe its 10 PPM (parts per million) diesel

Got to fill the pig tomorrow so going to throw some in and give it a go for say three months. Got some good hard trips in that time as well. Read the whole 18 pages of that thread in the link, some very interesting stuff, especially when you find out on page 17 that she is some big freelance researcher for oil companies. It's gotta work.

So how is this going for the fellas that are trying it?
Anything worth noting so far?

I ran it in the GU up until I sold it. Had I kept it, I would still be using it, motor was a lot quieter with the oil , may just have been less noise from the injector pump, but it was very noticable.
If I find another GQ, I will be doing the same with that.

when i had the pajero i used to run it on 100 percent biofuel.
the motor was a little noisy bugger before but after it was nice.
the big improvement was the lack of smoke, i was scared to drive it at night as you could see how bad it was. with the biofuel the smoke was gone.
i wish i was running the VX on it but cant afford it at the mo.

Tossed a bit in the tank (Valvoline stuff) when I filled up on Friday.
Have only done just over 100km so far and it seems a bit quieter, but since I'm actually trying to note a difference it could just be me imagining it. I have drummers hearing so its hard to tell haha.
Interested to see what the KM's will be when I hit E.

Yup i still run 2 stroke in my patrol. Not very scientific about it though. Usually about 250-300ml i think per tank. about a quarter of a moreys container ea fill. Can tell straight away that its quieter if i run out and don't use it for a tank or so.

Tried it for a few tanks of diesel, didn't notice anything at all.
One thing to think about, is the lubrication that all the fuel system seals will now be getting by using some oil with your diesel. Can't be doing any harm at least.

a rather clever mate of mine runs his little 2L 4 runner on transformer oil straight when its available,
its noticeably quieter and doesn't smoke unlike when on diesel,
I run a little brake fluid through with a tank if an engines been sitting a while as it seems to clear injectors/decoke the valves a fair bit .
being that its fairly abrasive I wouldn't do it too often mind you.

Ive had a we play with this after reading this thread this weekend.
Put about 300mls in a full tank on my kzn185 surf and sorry to say I didn't notice anything.
Is this a trick that's more noticeable on older noisier manual pump injectors not electronicly timed injectors perhaps? as I've noticed the electronic timed engines are already a lot quieter than their manual counterparts anyway.
Just a theory anyway but I won't bother adding anymore 2 stroke for now, plus it stinks lol but that's not helped by the fact my exhaust is chopped off behind the drivers seat at the moment waiting replacement lol

mine took about 1/2 tank before I noticed anything. but once it goes quiet its noticeable.

Thought I'd try this out cos the old 2.8's got half a mill
on the clock and she's noisy as, been running 300mls to a tank
of diesel. Definitely make's it run alot quieter and smoother, but for
what the oil costs dunno if it'd be worthwhile doing it all the time.

I run it in my safari.
Have been for awhile now and it def makes a difference in my truck. Quieter, smoother and just runs better.
Main reason I use it is to lube the pump.

I often run my truck on straight jet fuel, a cup of 2 stroke with a tank. Can't say it's quieter, I use it for lube as jet A is on dry side.

If you are adding 2 stroke fuel, check the fuel filter as it quite often just gathers there rather than going into the engine - that is why it is there.
You can however add some injector cleaner to the fuel filter to go directly into the engine which made a huge difference to the running of my D21 Nissan, good idea before a trip, or going out if in the Oz outback
Cheers Andy
