Then we'll need a cliff to hang BSTM8 off and a shiny Wrangler to be the Deadman!... Oh and a digger to put it in the hole with.

Or how about a SsangYong up to it's Windscreen wipers in a swamp... Just to make it interesting. Sacrifices for a good cause and all that! ;)

I vote for Ngaroma any excuse to pull out a few Pine Trees for the DOC boys and I'll be up for it in any case Wrecker tricks or not!

Yep, I'll have added a bit of molten steel to the internals of the back end of the Niva by then. May not have the Toymotor in it yet but that little bit of Russian Iron up front is still going strong. May need the Surf to tow it down there tho' :)

I'm just new in the Waikato but would be keen for any sort of trip, be it instructional or otherwise. I'm away in late March/early April but other than that am pretty flexible with dates and times.

My vehicle

Jerry wrote:what sort of Cruiser do you have

A Jeep Wrangler Sport. It needs some new tyres but I'm going to sort that out before Christmas hopefully (doing a big mission down to Mavora Lakes and back with as much time spent off the road as possible) and put some MT/R tyres on. The vehicles hasn't been modified for offroad use really although I have installed two tow hooks on the front and removed the towball so I can put a shackle on the rear (there is nowhere to mount a towhook annoyingly enough). I've also got some basic recovery gear (high-lift jack, hand winch, snow/mud chains, recovery strop, rope, shovel, saw and the like). So not too serious about the whole thing at the moment but definitely enjoy what I've done so far (I think Macetown has to be my favourite trip up until now).

Jase.... if mike is doing the NZQA thingy then day 1 will be a classroom training so you will need to find somewhere eg a skoolroom or has someone got a suitable meeting room near there?, Mike will want a projector thingy as well.

Here are some suggestions to help you organise this

Organise the classroom for daytime on eg Sat and then go to eg Petes place for the pratical part in the afternoon (need a hillclimb, descent, sideling and water crossing if possible from memory.....maybe PM mike and see what his requirements are) and stay there in the evening and go playing in the mud on Sunday.

Need to look at meeting points for everyone as well and what people need ie towhooks, recovery gear etc, what facilities are there eg loo running water etc and what will people need to bring? What trip rules do you want to have on the trip .... 2 i usually stipulate are no drinking and driving and proper rated hooks if people are playing in the mud/harder bits. what are the trip fees as well. Ask Mike how he will be travelling up (if he is coming up) and what transport he needs.

Having done this course its well worth it.....and its subsidised as well ....all you normally have to pay is the NZQA registration fee if you haven't already registered and of course the mike beer tax (speights) and anything else he will want

Good on ya for pulling finger and organising this...see its easy....I think you will be expected to organise another trip after this

Hahahaha you to two are funny alright orginising is quite hard its confusing and gives you a good head ache,

Now what's petes number, ( Ive never herd of petes place so yous will have to tell me bot it) Where about's is it directions please.

And jerry i don't no where petes place is so i can't orginise a class room until i find that bit of info out, what sort of a progector one that takes imeges, videos or one that you just put a peice of paper over a light that shines it at the wall?

And they will need
Rated tow hooks front and rear or D shackles
Rated snatch strap
shovel
no drink driving
famly manners if your bringing famly

Any thing els they should bring?

Im sure they can by a 10ltr or 20ltr bottle of water from grocery stores for the water and who can get hold of a loo??,

So a box of speights for mike and what els do ya want mike?

Any thing els?

Jase
you can phone Pete in vegas 349 1891, runs an exhaust shop somewhere there.

there is facilities there as per Jerrys comments.

Petes place is up Paradise Valley pass the stock car track, used to be the Landrover experience place. [being a local am sure you will remember 8) ] go up Te Miri Road then in to Te Manu Road - also has paintball there.

only challenge being a water crossing as to the best of my limited expereince there I haven't seen any decent creeks or rivers there.

If you need any help just PM me.

Jase,
You can get rooms at Waiariki, just call the main office and they'll pass you on to the property people. I can supply projector and screen.

I am sure that these guys MEANT to say, it's in ROTORUA

How to get there? Looked on Google earth, using the clues left by careless people. Go into Rotorua via the ...

From the SOUTH into
Old Taupo Road,
Or from the NORTH into
Fairy Springs road.
Turn WEST into
Clayton road
Continue without turning until you are out of the builtup area by approx 1.6 KM and then bear LEFT into
Te Miri Road continue for another approx 1.6 KM and bear RIGHT into
Te Manu road.

From there, I have not any more clues. clueless? Don't bother, Jerry!!!
