Just a bit of a play perhaps or mabe a drive down the Selwyn river to the mouth. Leave mid morning mabe say 11.

Unless its changed a lot the Selwyn river is a power-sapping dry pea-shingle highway... its a nice drive, but much of it needs to be done in 2nd low with your foot to the floor (unless you've got some sort of repower).

A snorkle would be an unlikely requirement for that trip, especially if you do the SH1-Coes Ford section, which is the popular part.

It would pay to check the river level before going tho, as water on pea shingle can make it unpleasant... Can anyone remember the site (Environment Canterbury or NIWA?) with the river level information on it?

Surflover, have you turned your intake away from the headlight yet?

The selwyn was a idea, Someone I know was there last weekend and it was fairly dry, I was thinking mabe take a bbq and have a fryup part way

All are welcome, If someone has a bbq bring it allong, I'll try to get mine fixed tomoro, then bring allong some meat and what not and we can find a place for a fryup as long as teh weather is ok, if not we can tie up a tarp between trucks for lunch.
Meet at the fuel station (i think its a caltex) at the end of Yaldhurst road by the round about 10:45, lead off at 11:15

no i havn't but will be getting an fj40 to give shit to, so i will be up for sunday, don't have a bbq though will pop into the mad butcher for a bit of meat though, see you sunday

Looks like I will now be free on Sunday so am thinking of stretching the legs of the Prado. Where are you guys headed, Waimak or Selwyn?
MT's or AT's, are we playing in loose shingle or mud?
