How can they continue wih the Gymkhana events when people are competing in a 4x4 series, people spend alot of time and money with rally trucks so maybe the time has come to seperate the shinys from the rally trucks

Talk to your Club - so that they can bring up your concerns with the five clubs that run the Manukau4WD sanctioned Laurie Sanson series - I will also discuss them at our committee meeting next week - as I said b4 I don't know all the history etc

they are already seperated ,Laurie sanson is for shineys nationals are for rally trucks.

the laurie sanson was supposed to be a stepping stone to competing in the nationals, and should be aimed at the club trucks. I'm all for there being easy outs for the shinnys but I agree keep the gymkhana events seperate or a least limit them to one an event. It does make it hard for a competetive adult/kid team, who has done well in the whole series, and then expect a 10 year old to balance a ball on a tennis racket while being driven around an obstical.
I respect that the people who give up their time to peg an event should be able to choose, but with the amount of time that goes into some of those Shore gymkhana events I would have thought it easier to peg another hill climb or such.

The Larrie Sanson was never meant to be a stepping stone to the nationals . In the early days it was held on the same day as the nationals but this was changed ( before my time

) to be a different day so you could go and watch/marshal etc .
It was always aimed at shinny trucks . Over the years it has got a bit harder etc but this has tried to be addressed in the last few years .

Don't get me wrong , I have a club truck and do not like the golf ball down the hole hazzards etc but we can't expect something to cater to all .

As the nationals has progressed over the years to the serious competition it is now there is a large gap between the shinny truck and a full blown rally truck . My bush truck will never be national rally material but its not a shinny either .

Maybe its time to see an inbetween event , or get the participating clubs togeter to see if the host club will alain the event with current trends . That may well be it stays a shinny event .

Not correct!!, there are alot of rally trucks that do not compete in the national rally but compete in club challenges, fun days and in our areas the Laurie Sanson series.

As chris said the laurie sanson series was designed for non natianals competitors hence being held on the same day. It was so people could have some fun competion in standerd road going vehicles.( ie no rally trucks) Obviously it has changed a bit over the years.

I think we have got off track a bit, it doesn't matter who the compitition is aimed at, it wouldn't worry me if National trucks were deemed ineligable for the overall prize, the point is it is a compitition, a test of driver and machine in off road conditions no matter what class or ability and I don't think juggling balls is a normal off road condition. Don't get me wrong I enjoy these events but I for one would like to see them done on a one off fun day(I'd bring my wife & kids!), not in a series where your childs ability to place a ball in bucket can can make or break your chances of overall points.

vehicle too have fire extinguisher, ideally your own tow rope, helmet. Usual story with rated recovery hooks etc. Take basic tools, but basically if you break its usually game over for the day unless its something simple.
Take your own food (some clubs put on a bbq at end of day) sunscreen, plenty of fluid for yourself (and vehicle). If its a trailered vehicle make sure you have enough fuel - you would be suprised the number of people that have run out half way throught the day. Enrty fee $20 - $25.

See there are some class changes effecting A class vehicles, from what i understand
A class is Rego and wof with no traction aids
A+ is rego and wof with traction aids
B is 4,6,and 8 cyl open diffs (must be non road legel, doesnt say)
C is 4,6,8 with traction aids

yep - I voted for the change - I couldn't see why my factory diff locks had an advantage over those without :shock:

I would of thought factory diff locks would of had an advantage over the same class of vehicle without lockers but the classes look fair, there are plenty of 4cyl kickin the 8cyl

dunno about that mate, if i recall the last couple of times ive been to peg days i get my arse kicked by just about everyone !.... might have somthing to do with twin lockers and being jacked to the moon for clearance :twisted:

That also was the idea - means those with tricked out club trucks don't have to do the riskier and harder b and c track and those shinier A's can compete on even field
