Hey done this twice

Step 1 Find a shed with hoist. really needed when it comes to getting box back in. Remove D/shaft wires breathers etc

Step 2 Mark the position of the torsion bars on the x member. Lookng form the back there are webs in the torsion bar tensioners.

Step 3 Loosen torsion bar tension and mark x member again (in line with web)

Step 4 Prop up gear box. Remove bolts from x member (2 each side and a couple to the box. Lever the x member down out of chassis brackets and block down.

Step 5 (Helps if its in the air in hoist) hit x member off the torsion bars. Use a block and very big hammer. Bit by bit on each side.

Step 6 Lower rear of box a bit to assist with removal of bell housing bolts

Step 7 Catch as it falls out (its heavy) Get fixed then reverse steps.

Step 8 when putting Torsion bar tensioners back on line the marks on the x member upwith the webs in the slack pos and tension up to the tiht marks. This shl return your ride height. While most likely be a bit high initally but settles quickly.

Hope this is clearish and helps. Yell out if you need any more assistance.

Forgot this

Step ? to get the bell housing bolts you need a long (5-600mm) socket extension.

To get the top ones you lower the rear of the gearbox twisting the enginge with it. This allows acess from underneth with the extension. To get the top starter bolt you use the long extension weaved between all the pipes and manifold with the rachet near the front/top of the engine.

ive undid 2 gearboxes off the back of a terrano, and did up a gearbox in my navara,i just used a spanner down behind the back of the head, between the firewall.

sounds like a long extension is the go but if not,a spanner it is
