Dont be too afraid of joining a more experienced group just tell them before you turn up, if it is a hard trip they may offer a seat. We all started somewhere just admit your level and if you are in the middle of a couple of drivers you can see the line they drove and follow it or ask why they picked it over PRS.
I am more than happy to pull over and wave my arms frantically and yell down a prs as I am sure everyone else is the biggest thing after this is being confident enough to give it another go.
Remember every 4wd is a little different, my hilux diesel will idle through some stuff, my other hilux (petrol) will struggle to get through. On the other hand the Petrol Hilux will fly thorough some stuff the diesel can't handle same driver.
Learning the abilities of your vehicle you will become more confident in driving it and know when to bottle out. Don't be shy we already know you drive a nissan
Sorry I am a bit Toyota biased down here
