Okies, things seem to be moving along smothly re the A/C pumps.
Have been offerd this one, its in Auckland. :(
Image
Its a SD709, will this be suitable for use with the greased sump idea?
Earlier posts were talking of a SD508 so I presume this one is a 7 piston 9 cu inch one.

If it is suitable I just need to find a way to get it down to Chch at a reasonable price.

BTW, there are two others that im waiting to hear back about too, 508's i believe.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Pete the SD709 has the same internals as the SD507-----10 , Just 2 extra pistons, you will still need to remove the valve end(where hose connections are) and block off the breather hole, remove the oil filler bung, drain any oil and replace bung with grease nipple. or you can remove bung, pump grease in and refit bung. The only benefit with the grease over the oil is the grease may still lubricate without getting past the rings and into your air supply.

Another question is what pressure can thes deliver ??
I am thinking that if you can get 200+ PSI into the tank and then regulate it after the tank you would have more volume available at the 100 PSI working pressure.
I got this idea from the the way our BA sets have high pressure in the tank but a low working pressure at the mask.

Peoples thoughts ....

Is anyone after Sanden A/C pumps as I have sourced two more at $30.00 each plus postage, both V belt clutches. I think they are 507 and 508 models.

Send me an email and I will pass on the details of the seller to you.
First in first served.

Any others who want these and miss out, look for SAAB 9000 series cars for them.

Stumbled across a good page for you guys looking at installing Sanden compressors:

http://www.mcs.net.au/~grungle/endlessair.html

It's got a pretty good writeup including how to block the sump vent port and put in the grease nipple etc.

Hey Does any body know where Big Boy is ??
He owes me a compressor

I believe his name is Peit and his profile says he lives in Dunedin

Any help appreciated

Also as I do not think I will ever see this or my $70, does anyone have one of the compressors that are good for this ??

Back in Sept, I paid $70 for a compressor + $$ for freight and a fan,
After lots of emails and about a month I finally got the fan.

Since then I have sent regular emails asking whats happening but have had no replies and am still waiting for the compressor.

Or another option is the whacking big A6 compressor found on 70-80's Jags. There's a few of them around and they have a sump as well
