full load screw

Post by natedogg »

hey guys,

may have found a new terrano, but aparently its pumping out a heap of black smoke under full throttle, my first thought is that the full load screw may have been played with,

can anyone tell me exactly where it is (pics would be great) as i have looked for it (on my old terrano), but really have no idea what im looking for.

cheers

Nathan

you are looking at the grub screw on the diesel pump it could be all the way in ot all the way out or even have fallen out. I havent played with a nissan fuel pump so can't say what or where exactly it should be.

Stand at the drivers side front gaurd leaning over into the engine bay.

You will see the injector pump on that side of the block, towards the front.

At the back of the injector pump, where the injector lines are locatd is the fuel govenor screw.

It is located in the middle of the flange where the injector lines come from.

Its in a prick of a place, amnd it is highly unlikely someone would have played with it.

Its more likely to be buggered injectors, less likly to be a dirty air cleaner, and even less likely to be a blocked fuel filter.

Depending on what year it is, make sure that the rubber flexi joint section of the air intake between the lid of the airbox and the pipe work going to the turbo is not cracked in any way. Common thing to happen, and a very good reason to walk away ;)

Terrano's are also notorious for clogging the intake manifold up with gunk from the EGR system. This makes em smoky, especially after idleing when hot.

If the rest of the truck is mint, then at $60 an injector, plus a little bit of labour, it may well be a good buy!!!!!

The old TD27t is a good solid and very reliable donk :)

Well, in that case, swap the injectors over!!!!!

Remember though, 1/4 of a turn on that scew makes a huge change.

was smokeing fairly bad under load did everything i could til i was told about the filter on the top of the injecter pump.
directly under the power sterring pump u will see a 17mm bolt remove it becareful theres 2 copper washers there on eather side of banjo fittin.
thake the bolt out move pipe to the side push in a ball point pen u should pull out a small spring reinsert pen u will pull out a filter bout as big as ur little finger nail it most like full of crap.
once i cleaned mine no more smoke n more power to ?
