Did a bit of work seeing it's WOF time again.

Found this

Image

It was a second hand top arm, that I put in about a year ago, and it seems to have lost a nut off one end, that has allowed the bush inner sleeve to work it's way out and slog the bush out :?

Mental note to self, check more often :!: :!:

Should have looked like this.

Image

Also found this while I was at it

Image

So have chucked another second hand arm in it, and adjusted the rear brakes, and got the CV boot back on, FINALLY, dam messy greasy things :!: :!:

I guess I will see if there is anything else that I need to sort out after the WOF check

Do you remember when we went to Ashley Gorge & i said it looked like your front wheel was all over the place when you were going over those rocks..that was probably why..the top arm would of been moving all over the show.

That would be right Tallsam66, I just thought it was due to the nice rough terrain

Is it just me, or has the comment from tallsam, gone from his post :?: I cant see it :(

Its just you. Its hiding above your last picture :P

I bought a new head unit for new years today and had planned to put it in tomorrow when I get to Akaroa with my new hubs but the hubs still ain't here so looks like it'll just be the head unit.

Going to have a crack at mounting a front tow hook and finally cutting a hole for the snorkel. Got the rubber for that today.

Got a mammoth ham to get through from work as well so I've got to get some bourbon to go with that. Its gunna be a good Christmas! :D

I got under the jeep and removed the anti-sway bar, still drives OK on the road, a bit more roll, however definitely more flex off road. I just took the dog for a walk down by the Hutt River at Silverstream and drove at an angle across a bank to see if the brake lines were still going to be OK, good flex, but still plenty of slack in the brake lines.

Won't be putting the anti sway bar back on now, stow it away in the back of the garage somewhere.

Cheers

Put a tow bar tongue that drops 250mm now instead of 50mm so i can tow the boat without it looking like its already being launched! Replaced the sisters radiator the hour before i was heading out for dinner last night.

Headed around to icedjohnos workshop and we dropped his rear diff out so he could diagnose the problem with his elec locker. Nothing to do with the vacuum tubes it seems matt

Started the boat using the surf to jump it. started the trail bike first time in 5 months or more, going to be a fun summer, no LR though :(

Not much this weekend. Got back from overseas last weekend to find the batteries totally dead. Took to get checked and there are "no problems and the batteries are ok"

Have been running round in the cruiser a bit today but not off road so on my way home tonight I took to the river instead of the bridge and found a stuck surf and three bored beer-drinking young people. Retrieved them from their predicament, told them about ORE and went on my way just as a flat mate arrived to pull them out!
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

Finally got the "new" toy home. No bloody car trailers to be hired anywheres because of christmas, so it was a tow job for what seemed like an eternity.

I hate Christmas, But I kinda like my Paj

Cost was a staggering $500. This I think was to go toward a new chicken coop... which it seems what the Mitsi was being used for, note the shit on the door.

Some of the more techy modifications that have been made to this high tech beast include Easy access to the back door latch. Done by judicious application of a diskgrinder. :)

Head has to come off to do a leaky head gasket, but other than that it runs real good. Surprising considering it's use (or abuse) up till now.

Now just have to track down some lockers and some 33's, ready for the training day

very tiring weekend for poor little skid

had to work saturday morning. was my last day at old job. straight after work it was home to load up the work ute that my boss kindly loaned me and then hit the road to welly.

woke up sunday morning and left welly at 5am heading back to taupo to drop off the ute and pick up the VX which was already fully loaded and fart around in taupo, see a few people and then back to welly. see ya later taupo.

I reckon I did about 18 hours driving in the last 24 hours

spent monday unpacking and joined the masses at the north city plaza trying to do last minute xmas shopping.

I am officially knackered and it has taken a few days to get over it.

got a few days of camping with the family to help relax before starting the new job on jan 3 8)
