want to put some 12V EXTRAS on the GQ, cb radio, gps, mobie phone charger, large interior light. how do i convert 24v to 12v. i know there is something i can buy but dont know what it is called.
my cd player has been connected straight to the battery so i am assuming the factorty fit reducer is shagged for whatever reason, cant even find where it is mounted in the truck so might not have one anymore hence the cd player connected direct to batt.
thanks for your help guys
also can you fit a 12v winch some way??? as there seems to be alot of second hand one about which i can afford.

For the stereo and lites etc you need what is called a voltage reducer.10 to 20 amperes should do you fine.If you wanner run a winch get a 24 volt winch. If you really wanner run a 12 volt winch best to fit another battery or two paralled up and a stand alone 12v 100plus ampere alternator.Expensive

I ran a wire directly off the 24v battery and mounted a reducer/converter in the cab to run the stereo.
where did you buy the reducer from and how much are they?? cheers

The best way of hooking up 12v equipment in a 24v vehicle is to use a voltage reducer.
If you can't do this and decide to hook it up off a single battery, ensure that the 12v gear is to connect it to the battery that has the the cable from the negative terminal connected to the chassis.
You can get a battery equaliser that connects to the positive terminal of each battery and ensures that both batteries are charged correctly.
Neither of these options are suitable for running high current equipment like winches, compressors, big inverters etc

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
