I'm pretty sure the L/h side has a r/h thread and vice versa :? , I've got a whole pile of them (in Ch Ch) shouldn't have any trouble getting one. I just put new ones on mine. Ex BnT

Also the steering rod ends are a smaller diameter to the draglink ends 21mm and 23mm? i think. The tie rod has a similar but smaller set up which the steering dampener fits into, so make sure you've got the rod the right way round  otherwise the rod end with the hole for the tie rod, is fitted into the draglink.

How bloody confusing does that sound   (but you should get the idea)

I hope i have my terminology right :? Tie rod from steering box to l/h wheel and drag link connecting two wheels together

What year and model are they off?
shop has tried 40s 60s 70s and 80s and say they are all right hand thread both ends, but mine is left hand thread on the passengers side (the rod that links the two hubs not the link from the box.
to me it looks identical to the 60 and the 80 pictures I have seen so either its later model / option / or an accessory mod.
thanks

i know they are wrong. If it had a r/h thread in both ends then you wouldn't be able to adjust it without dropping a tierod end off :? Its set up with a different thread in each end so you can turn the draglink around to thread in or out of the rod ends and adjust the wheel alignment without having to do anything except release the clamps on each end. Where abouts are you? As mentioned i have some spare bits which should do the trick. The 60 and 70 series ends are all the same. Maybe the draglink has been damaged but i can gaurantee that it will have a l/h thread in one end and r/h in the other. (I'd be real cautious taking it to a steering shop that doesn't know this  )

yea.....and.... still need to know what link rods are on it, is it standard 40 tie rod (the rod that goes from hub to hub) ?. if it has then it will just be a 40 series tie rod, dime a dozen from repco etc about 12 dollars from memory.....i think i have a new set buried in my drawers somewhere from when i used to have little stuff like that  40 series tie rod ends are tiny by comparison(13mm i think)where as 60 series are 23mm, much more substantial  but they are dime a dozen as well so just pop into your local repco and ask for the passenger side tie rod end for the appropriate vehicle and your away :D

the 40/60/70 series cruiser left tie rod ends all look the same but the 40 is much smaller threaded section. the 80 series cruiser has a similar looking drag link rod end but its for the steering dampner no the the tie rod as this is in behind the diff housing and not conected to the drag link rod via tie rod end.

make sence ? does to me

and you need the left rod end that is on the end of the tie rod which goes between the two wheels so that would make it an FJ40 left outer tie rod end :D if you get stuck i probably have a new one in my shed somewhere
