I'll be in the Hokianga 3rd to 8th or 9th. Be spending at least three days out on Mitimiti beach..... if crunchie falls through you're most welcome to tackle White Mountain....

I wish i could but sadly i have used my "away from the wife and kid time" by going for a play at pouto yesterday - The crunchie is good fun and you will have a ball.

A rather large hunk of sand (covering a limestone "mountain") at the north head of the Hokianga Harbour. Probably 3 x the climb to the Pouto Lighthouse, and a zigzag climb rather than straight up. a lot of fun for sure.

it might have another name, but thats what ive known it as for the last 30 years. If you've got google earth, locate "kohukohu" and head west from there. You'll be able to pick it fairly clearly when you see the coast.

I can remember my mother abjectly refusing to be in a vehicle heading up there... and i had to walk up the bloody thing with her 'cause she wouldnt let me get in a vehicle either. That was 1978.
