after inspection My head is cracked, and a good'n too. Cylinder to the water gallery.
I was going to put a new head on it, or put in a 2nd hand 2Lt or 2Lte but after conversing with MATT4U, And Cornfarmer I have been convinced to seek alternatives......
So I am in need of either a 3L or a 13bt and if possible, a hand to chuck it in.
I am working to a fairly tight budget and trying to keep this under 3k and am aiming to have it ready for my 1 week trip into the Leetham and then 2 week trip around Nelson and Golden Bay which will be on from the start of feb.
I am situated in wellington so an engine from around here would suit best as not having to piss about with freight.
Any help, offers of sale, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

3L or 13bt needed for a Ln130
If you are on a tight budget, then you can throw out the 13bt idea, as that is a full repower number.
A 3L (2.8 diesel) sounds like the option you should be looking at, although I may know of a 3ltr turbo diesel that runs sweet and is already in a ln130 coming up for sale in a week or so. Should be about $2500 for the whole truck, (complete, but no wof or rego, but not dead) Truck is a wee bit scruffy, but is still a daily driver and could be driven anywhere in nz as is (if you don't mind running around with out wof and rego)

Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
Hey rokhound, Do you know how much work is involved it putting a 13 BT into a LN130? (Its just because there are a couple of these on trade me for 1500 Pingas at the moment).
Or the one you mentioned with the 1kz, How big of a job would that be to fit? I dont suppose the guy that owns that would be willing to wreck...?

I imagine 13bt would be shit loads of work as the 3b block is so tall (long stroke).
Not sure if the ln130 with the 1kz is for sale offically yet or not, (he has to wait for another truck deal to come off), but if/when it is, you would be mad not to take the whole thing as you then know you have everything needed. I think the only thing you need to cahnge to put the 1kz in yours is the engine mounting points.

HMMMM.... Yeah THinking about it and after reading up on a few articles Im pretty set on a 1kz.....
Theres one for sale in levin too so I'll see if its got everything I'll need to do the swap.
Thatd give me a good excuse to do my lift and buy sum 35s too....
The 1kz should bolt onto my gearbox without having to piss about with bellhousings.......yes .....no......?????
And what about electrics...? I imagine the 1kz would have a few more fidly wires and switches hiding around the place...?
