Thompson's Track Wed 2 Jan

Post by Mark »

I realise it's rather late notice, but anyone interested in poking their nose up Thompson's Track (Te Aroha side) tomorrow at around midday? The guy I was going to go with can't make it now and I don't know the place so not so keen on going by myself... I need a hand to hold!

If anyone's interested post here or call me on 021549540.

Sweet. I'll wire the new winch up now and get away from here at about 11am. I'm picking that it will take about 1 hr to get there from Papamoa/Mt Maunganui??

Where is the best place to meet? End of Thompsons Rd or at the intersection of Te Aroha Gordon Rd and Thomsons Rd?

Just to warn you, I won't be going particularly hard up there because I still have to get back to Wellington tomorrow, but I'm keen to go and do a bit of exploring and watch anyone else thrash their trucks

Ok, see you there. If you could throw in the panhard "just in case" that would be awesome.

If anyone else reads this later and wants to tag along give me a call on my mobile. I'll check this thread again in about an hour, then I'll be off.

It certainly did! That is one hell of a bumpy track too, so the panhard would have had a bit of a work out. It even handled the big cross axles up that last hill climb.

God it looks gay with the "road tyres/wheels" on

It was pretty dry up there for sure. You could see that it would be a hell of a lot of fun in the wet though. Would definitely be keen to come back during the winter months for a look... would certainly bring the muddies for that though!

Thanks for showing us around Coxsy. It was certainly handy to have another vehicle up there to try out the new winch on when we couldn't get up that rutted bit. Bloody long wheel base...
