Help! Took the old 70 series for a 300km blat down through Farlie today and the engine temp wouldn't come up. Checked water levels and thermometer wires from thermostat, all looked to be in working order. picked up a new thermostat from repco on way home and replaced old one once she cooled down. Old thermostat had cracked. Replaced gasket and sealant on housing.
How do I know if I got the air out of the system after changing the thermostat?
The main radiator hose was fizzing around the edges after I ran it up to check for leaks, should I use Gasket Goo on it to seal it up?
Any other advice
Cheers
Colby

LANDCRUISER 13BT thermostat trouble HELP!!!
Nothings a problem if you don't give a f#ck.
To get all the air out of my 70 (and my Surf before it) I leave the rad cap off overnight everyday for about a week. Most of it can be removed by running it up to temp with the cap off initially. It's air-free when you don't have to add any more coolant.
Also I find drilling a couple 2mm holes in the thermo makes it much easier to remove any air, at the expense of a slightly slower warm up.
