hey guys
im trying to fit a factory toyota winch, onto an 80series cruiser, with an aftermarket bullbar (the winch & bullbar came off another 80series cruiser)
But this shit has me a bit lost.... Does any one have a manual for these suckers?
Ill get some pics tonight but it looks the same winch as this one.. on trademe with the same bits

80 series cruiser fitting factory toyota winch..
ok so heres some pics..
First thing, whats this thing? what does it do? im guessing its maybe a capacitor or something? its got a few plugs on it? guessing its just power in power out?
OK this is looking at the winch, guessing the plug thats got wires attached in control of the winch as it has a couple switches on it.. but what do the others do? im guessing the exposed bolt on the end is for the supply to the winch to go onto? Can see the ground wire still attached so thats pretty easy..
lastly this was hainging down behind the bumper, does it need to get plugged in any where?
sorry for the crappy cell phone images... im keen to get this thing going so i can go and test it out.... so how stuck i can get the cruiser![/img]

I need some help here too.
The big black lump with the wires hanging off it is the solenoid pack. Feed power into it and power comes out and off to the winch. The light weight wire is for isolating switch stuff. I think you just have to supply 12 volts to it for the winch to work. I put an isolating switch on the dash to stop accidental use.
As well as I can remember you just hook up power to the solenoid and then from the solenoid to the winch. Can't remember if there is a live 12volts to the winch. Earth the winch and away you go.
DO you have the winch remote. There should be a steel cap covering a multi pin socket to plug into. Can't see it in the pics.
I can get some pics of a wired up one if needed.
Cheers

Had another look. The three connections on the plastic box from left are the winch control plug. There should be a steel multi pin plug on the end of a six inch length of wire. The middle one is the isolating switch and the big steel bolt on the right is the power to the winch.
Happy winching.

Double your purchase
I had the same winch on my 80 series and found that the only time it could the truck out was if you run it through a block and doubled your line pull.
I have since swapped mine for a Toyota Hi-Mount which I am going to adapt a warn motor to.
