V8 FJ40 road cam

Post by petefj40 »

I brought a helmet cam the other day that can be strapped or stuck on pretty much anything (as it's waterproof). So I thought I'd stick it on the top of the roll cage of the 40.
Now, I don't drive like this all the time but, I was well within the road limits ok. :D
I'm looking forward to putting the cam on the 40 while off roading. Though I don't think it will handle a roll (like at the Sheffield event).

Here's the link.

Cheers. It's fun making clips from that cam. I'm looking forward to doing some video while going for a blast on the quad bike.

It sounds ok Mike. But to be honest, I'm not really that impressed with the sound playback. But that's cool. Cause they told me if I wasn't happy with the mic I could replace it. (they've had the odd bad mic)

I'll give you the link to source one. It's local and the person I dealt with was really good to deal with. Her name is Aimee Nicolle. She really knows her stuff! She's into 4X4ing big time to. She's good friends with Rick at 4X4 Accessories. That's where I meet her to pick up my cam kit.
The model I brought was the "xtreme helmet camera kit" package. It's the highest resolution helmet camera on the Australasian market. It's a 560TVL Sony Super HAD. It ain't cheap though Mike. $800.
Tell her I put you onto her. She might do you a better deal. :D

He's another video clip from the same cam. Just, this one's placed on my holden, 3 inches from the road. :D
I actually broke the safety lens cover filming this clip. A stone flicked up from the front tyre. :(
There's lots of improvement to do on my editing and filming. But I'm having fun along the way. :D

Sorry about all the footage showing off bits and pieces. Someone requested it.

Thats def a good cam. even though only driving around the block for some reason ya just have to keep watching :?

Might get one when the rover is finished, prob get one in from the states or something just to get that cost down a bit. ones i were looking at were 300 but with no mic.

The cheapest cam they have there is $500. And that's with a mic.
Yeah the cost is right up there. But when I saw they were a local dealer i thought, if it goes wrong (as I'm hard on my gear) being local should make it easier and faster to get support.
All the best getting the 4X4 finished! Hope you're posting progress pictures? :D

yeah those cams work wel!l, we have a simular setup for freeride jetsking we use in the surf & we find the sound playback is not the best either...the wind is our biggest issue usually!

it was the dyers road area.
Yeah the wind at the mic is a problem. Today I did some footage on the quad with the cam on my helmet and the mic in my jacket As soon as I got to full noise (or close to it) the sound crapped out. :( Oh well. I'll use more padding around the mic next time and see if that helps.

That album, "hold your colour" by "pendulum" has got to be one of my favorite albums! Not many albums I buy that I like every track! Even my kids like it!! It's a great album to play on a long drive (by yourself with the volume up).
