Powder coating in chch

Post by COMILUX »

hey
just bought me a set of new white spoke rims for my hilux and want to have them powder coated in black.
just wondering if anyone in chch has had this done and can recomend a good and resonably priced place to have this done?
had one quote whice was $240 - $120 to strip paint off and $120 to powdercoat them - does this sound like good price?

hopefully ive posted this in the right section, please tell me if i havnt

thanks

$56 a rim isn't bad.
I've had about 3 sets of rims stripped and powder coated gloss black at the crowd I use. Each rim cost me $40 to get done. And they did a mint job!
They're called "PLASCO". Address is 4 Cass Street, Sydenham, Christchurch. Ph 366-3388 or 027-375-6935.
The owners name is Steve. Tell him I, Peter Turner, put you onto him. He'll do you a good deal. The last job Steve did for me was my bull bar Corey Taylor made for me. Dipped and powder coated for just $60!! Looks awesome.

Goodluck.
Pete.

Would the powder coating work on alloy wheels as well? The only thing left non-black on my Jeep are the rims. I have been thinking about either replacing them or just getting them powder coated (or even painted). But wanted to know from people who have done them before.

YEP! Works on alloy as well. I had my 18 inch momo rims on my Holden powder coated by "Plasco". Looks great!

Great, just need to find a Plasco or similar in around central Auckland. Mine are factory alloys, nothing fancy like a Momo. One more question, what happens to balancing weights? Or should I get those fancy stick on weight put on after the paint treatment (and re-balancing).

I'm sure you'll find a place.
When they dip strip them, weights are taken off. Once the tyre is removed and even the same tyre put back on they should always be re balanced.
