link clicking

Post by skid »

clicking on a link used to open that link in a new page.

now when you click on a link, it replaces the ORE page you were on.

is this how it is now, or is this in the to be sorted pile with the other old forum stuff.

does anyone know the answer to this :?: :?:

Don't know the answer, but I always click on a link with the middle button (press down on the wheel) on the mouse and it always opens a new page

Instead of "left click "" right click" then select open in new page

That "middle click" option is a computer-specific thing - and may be able to be manually configured in the control panel (Windows) - switch to classic view then look for the mouse or pointer settings - the buttons can (depending on model) often have the middle button programmed to act as a "double-click". I know that Genius mouse software allows this...

As for the links not opening in a new page I doubt that this will be able to be changed - I suspect its inbuilt into the code of the new forum software.

Simple workaround if you don't have a middle button, or it can't be programmed to do the double-click thing: right click the link and choose "open in new tab" or "open in new window"

The other way around in IE is to press shift and then simultaneously click the link (on your mouse), it opens the link in a new window.

I've just been right through the administration settings for the board and can't find any settings for this. So, the best way is to just get used to using middle-click, shift-click, or right click->open in new window/tab, depending on your browser or operating system. It's something that everybody should be familiar with when browsing the web in general anyway
