The 2.4 that they came out with is the Toyota 2L-T motor, the 2.8 is a Daihatsu motor. I think the 2.8 turbo is Daihatsu also. It will have a Daihatsu box. Have fitted a 2.4 from a Blizzard into a Hilux, but I don't know if the Daihatsu 2.8 is interchangeable with the 2.4. I wouldn't think so though. You may be able to swap the bellhousings and fit a Toyota 2.8 motor??

Motor and gearbox is Daihatsu I believe, Although tere may be lots of shared parts in them both, could PM Dick he has had one in bits recently and could tell you what it looks like etc.

Someone else on here had a blizzard gearbox apart recently as well (studentcars?)

Hey fellas.
I believe only the blizzards came out with the (2.4) 2LTs.
In order to mate the engine to the Daihatsu box, a specific input shaft and presumably bell housing was made.
There are plenty of Ruggers being wrecked, so a motor should be readily available.
If you can't find a motor, say so and I'll ask around those I've recently ben talking to.
The 2.4t is gutless any way, you're probsbly better off with a rugger 2.8 with bent valves and a sick turbo.
I believe the rugger 2.8 has no relation to the 3L from Toyota. Hope that helps some.
