hey there, im looking at getting into 4wding and have found a truck im looking at, a 73 land cruiser with bronco running gear(302 with a C4 auto box) in it
it is a bit of a project needs couple panels fixed for wof but has a deceleration so its all sweet there.
just wondering if this is a good truck combo and what sorta mileage to expect out of it on and off road? it does have an LPG conversion if that helps but also can run on petrol.
any thoughts?
cheers

you cant beat lpg offroad mate (100% dedecated )but 50/50 should be good if its tuned to spec.
what sort off diffs has it got
sounds like a cool project
its good to be different than everyone else
also the c4 and the v8 is the best combo offroad ,no worrying about missing gear changes,no stalling ,nothing but 2 hands on the wheel and heaps of the right foot.
and if its a bronco running gear you wont have cvs to break
but it will prob have a crap steering lock because of the knuckles but nothing a bit of maching wont fix

dont know about youre bronco ,but you want to take into consideration that the cruiser rear diff is not central (like a hilux etc)what transfer case you want to use with youre c4??
happy fiddling

how hard is it to swap to the later model cruiser diff setup? would that have to be certed
im not sure what sort of transfer box etc were used as everything is in the truck atm and is decleared for it.
what transfer case would be suitable? as i said in the first post im new to 4wding so dont know much bout the stuff.
thanks again :>

there was one on trademe for, i think 300 ish which is a fearly good price

if it was me id use the std cruiser transcase ,this giving you a nice line up with youre rear diff (there offset remember not central)and by using cruiser you can run a pto winch cos all cruisers have the pto outputs on all transfers

hope this helps

o yea that sounds good, and the pto winch sounds like the way to go from people ive talked to so that transfer box would be the way to go too probably.
how much is a 73 cruiser worth, i mean its very rough and needs engine work and rust cut out of it, SWB. just a ballpark figure to work off would be handy :>
cheers
