4x4 regulations

Post by PeterVahry »

There appears to be no topic section that covers discussion on regulations affecting overall 4x4 modification and building. The discussion on body lifts seems to be in the "Announcements" section for some reason!

Would it be logical to create a new category?

There is a projects/mods topic, I think that would be a good place for it - I think the general idea at the moment is to slim down the number of topics rather than expand it. The reason the topic you are talking about is in announcements is clear when you read the first post.

There could probably be a sticky topic in the projects/mods folder with a FAQ in it based on discussion to give people some loose guidelines to work to... this discussion (and in general Marks summation, with a few tweaks) would be a good start for that FAQ... I'll discuss that with Mike and Mark...

Isn't that what the Land Access / DOC legislation / Regulations forum is for? The description for that is "Discussions concerning land access, DOC legislation and 4wd regulations".

Mark, the regulations referred to under land access should remain just that... stuff like law making etc relating to 4x4 access.
My thought is that there could be a similar place where the regulations around vehicles can be covered.

Certainly many of the vehicle rules do involve LVVTA, but not exclusively. Our friends at Land Transport have a knack of finding things to keep themselves employed.

I agree with Peter, we can probably call is 4x4 Vehicle Regulations and the other one would be 4x4 Access Regulations (which is the old one). Otherwise there could be a hierarchy as under:

- Regulations (Main Forum)
    - 4x4 Vehicles | Sub forums
    - 4x4 Land Access (DoC, etc) |
    - Trials |
    - Winch Competitions |

This is just a suggestion of the order and hierarchy and the discussions to remain strictly technical and focussed on regulations (no b/s).
