Allrighty then.

I have finalised my plans, which entail me coming in the the mangatuks gate late on Saturday afternoon and cruising through to Green Hut, where ales will be consumed.

The next day, I will be going back out the same way after we finish playing in the Akas.

If anybody wants to join me in convoy then let me know what time you wish to leave on Sat arvo and we'll work it out from there.

Cheers

Yep I've spent 5 hours on the truck this afternoon pulling the radiator out and cleaning all the mud out and rebuilding all the broken Alternator mounts. Now when I shut the truck down and take the keys out the engine keeps running so I better have a quick look at that tomorrow or it'll cost me a fortune in fuel if I can turn it off :?

Still got the brakes and a punture to fix but thats a usual thing just before a trip

Good old Land Rover eh. :D (Now I have probably jinxed it and it will break down on the weekend )
Haven't even washed it since the last time in there (1st working bee) so it will turn up still dirty. Maybe I should pop the bonnet tomorrow to check the oil. The only repair was glue together the broken indicator which I smashed on a tree root sticking out of the bank going down Wacko.
Have been busy making some mods though. Shaved that bloody great big rear diff to hopefully stop me getting hung up so quickly on high centre sections in the tracks. Gained a good 35mm of ground clearance over a stock Salisbury. Should make a big difference. Stuck some taller springs in the old girl too. Just need to see how that affects the articulation.
Should be a good weekend, looking forward to it.

If anyone who is turning up has a GPS unit, bring it along and do some tracklogs. Email those logs to me after the weekend and we'll make an attempt at properly mapping the place.

For those day trippers coming in on Sunday, please be at the Cnr of moonshine & haywards by 9.15am, Sig will be leaving there about 9.30. for those bringing tow vehicles/trailers these can be left at the Rallywoods bottom gate....please let Sig know if you need to do this.... (which will be locked whilst we are in the Aka's for the day. We will be doing a quick vehicle check and collect $$$ and a quick safety briefing when we get into the Bulls Run Road gate which will be about 10ish . The Rallywoods overnighters need to head down to the Rallywoods gate by 9.30ish (You may get a few train horn reminders  and I'll probaby bring it along as well   )

Just a reminder the access fees for this trip are $15 , add another $5 if you arent a ORE ASSN and/or NZFWDA member, those staying at Rallywoods will only need to pay the night fee if they are staying, parking is free for the day as well. there should be a "RADIATOR & WINDOW wash" up at Rallywoods avaliable for those day trippers that want it, you are more then welcome to come up there afterwards and have dinner there and leave afterwards (BYO BBQ stuff etc), or stay the night if you want....

Sig can be contacted on 021 724 482, please call him if you are eg running 5 mins late etc. Sig is the Trip leader for this day trip.
